Project Title: Nordic Black Theatre – RebrandYear: March 2015

This is a Rebranding project we did for a culture center in Oslo by the name Nordic Black Theatre. They focus on producing and presenting art, especially with emphasis on transcultural performing arts. Their current design profile is unstructured and lacks the visual appeal, which they are aware of. NBT also own and run a place called 'Cafeteateret' (café theatre), and when they bought cafeteateret its design profile came along with it, which they now use alongside with NBT's design profile. Confused? Yeah, we were too and so is their audience. We decided to give their identity a proper structure and remove the confusion of using two different identities.
To arrive at a concept for Nordic Black Theatre we seeked inspiration from cultural events, and took a closer look at our own cultural backgrounds. The idea was to put NBT's core values into the design, when different cultures meet something beautiful and creative takes shape. We were inspired by unique culture festivals like Basant and Holi, we were mostly inspired by the colors, patterns and the atmosphere.
